Women Seafarers Development Program
As Ditaş Shipping, we embrace the principles of diversity, inclusiveness, and equality, in line with the vision of Koç Group, of which we are proudly a part. Promoting gender equality and empowering women in the maritime industry are among our key priorities.
Launched in 2022, the Women Seafarers Development Program was established to support female leadership in the maritime sector and to increase employment opportunities for women.
Through this initiative, 10 outstanding female students from maritime faculties are awarded scholarships each year in cooperation with the Vehbi Koç Foundation. In addition to financial support, scholarship recipients are offered internship opportunities aboard Ditaş vessels, along with priority consideration for employment at Ditaş following graduation.
Eligibility criteria include ranking within the top 100,000 in Turkey’s national university entrance exam for the relevant year, and enrolling in either the Maritime Transportation and Management Engineering or the Marine Engineering Operations programs at a recognized university.
Throughout the year, participants attend various events and engage with experienced female seafarers currently working at Ditaş, allowing them to benefit from mentorship and gain early exposure to our corporate culture.
The Women Seafarers Development Program is the first and only social responsibility project in Turkey focused specifically on empowering women in the maritime industry, and serves as a pioneering model within the sector.
